Warfaring Strangers: Acid Nightmares - Vinyle Violet Neon

Description

This compilation, as well as the cover, immediately sets the tone: sensitive souls, beware! What we have here is a collection of unknown bands, which had a very brief lifespan, but which contributed significantly to the shaping of metal. We tend to believe - wrongly - that the foundations of heavy metal were laid by the famous Vincebus Eruptum by Blue Cheer and especially Black Sabbath with their first 5 albums. The contribution of the latter is undeniable, but they are just the tip of the iceberg! Many bands around the world, from the late 60s, created music based on heavy guitars, rough vocals and aggressive rhythm sections... Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath was certainly a magician, but his riffs didn't come from nowhere. Listening to this excellent compilation - musically speaking, but also because of the research work of the initiators - and leafing through the booklet, we put a name and faces to all these unknown soldiers (most of whom are dead). The first soldiers of metal, a true foreign legion! The Portuguese Xarhanga, the Austrian Novak's Kapelle, the German Gift or Acid, the English Brass Alley or Sardonicus, the American Whistler's Mother, Supa Chief, TNS, Mass Temper, Goliath, Bulbous Creation, Ritual or Gollum.
