Ghostly International has now passed the two-decade mark of genre-defying activity, and ten years have gone by since its first collaboration with [adult swim]. With a compilation in 2009 that made a splash - featuring artists such as Matthew Dear, Tycho, Dabrye and School of Seven Bells - Ghostly Swim embodied the label’s founding spirit, namely its darkly mischievous and irreverent side. Ghostly Swim 2, the follow-up released in 2015, refocused its theme, welcoming the quiet introspections of Heathered Pearls, AceMo, Mary Lattimore & Jeff Zeigler and many others. To crown its 20 years in 2019 and offer a characteristic step forward, Ghostly reunites for a third album with Cartoon Network, a bastion of free thought and independent creation. Starting from the idea that the only possible way out is through movement, Ghostly Swim 3 revels in the catharsis that movement can bring. Dynamic, free bodily music as kinetic therapy, as entertainment, as triumph thanks to the emerging and established talents from techno, electro, breaks, unclassified uptempo... Fans will recognize a series of rising stars outside Ghostly’s roster, thus sketching several facets of the underground dance community. Black Noie (Portage Garage Sounds, Vanity Press), Yak (R&S, Orson), LNS (Wania, 1080p), DJ Python (Incienso, Dekmantel), join the compilation alongside pillars of the Ghostly and Spectral Sound labels such as Ouri, Todd Osborn under the name Superstructure, and Tadd Mullunix under his pseudonym X-Altera. With 14 tracks in total, this double vinyl is a tailor-made showcase that matches [adult swim]’s bold programming mission.
