The legacy of R'n'B slow jamz
Description
The Legacy of R&B SlowJamz: "Ballads (or slow jams) are the songs that stand the test of time and those that leave the strongest impression on people's minds," said singer Brian McKnight one day. Following in the glorious footsteps of their Soul predecessors (Marvin Gaye, Teddy Pendergrass, The Isley Brothers, Luther Vandross here with the excellent "Take You Out"...), Rn'B has diligently applied itself like a model student to reproduce the successful recipe delivering smooth melodies sung by ever more languorous voices. It is therefore impossible to overlook for a respectable Rn'B artist who wants to showcase their vocal abilities as well as their capacity to move the crowds. MTV, a powerful showcase of the time, would be the ideal vehicle for this movement sensing the imminent explosion of Rn'B. Avoiding the very tempting pitfall of sugar overdose, some artists and producers featured on this compilation excel brilliantly and even receive the jury's praise. We will highlight, among others, the immense Sade and her moving "Somebody Already Broke My Heart," the sublime "Naked Without You" by the English Roachford (here in Full Crew mix version), the featuring of 2Pac on his friend Jon B.'s track "Are You Still Down," "5 Miles to Empty" (presented in Cutfather & Joe Remix Up version, which is reminiscent of Mark Morrison's hit "Return of the Mack"), the superb "You Gotta Be" by Des'ree, the very beautiful cover of "Show You the Way to Go" by the Jacksons by Men of Vizion, or the delightful "Til the Cops Come Knockin'" by Maxwell (here in MTV Unplugged version)... How can we not also mention the emergence at that time of great Rn'B producers such as Devante Swing, a member of the group Jodeci ("Can You Get Wit It" in Devante's Gangsta Lean Extended Edit version, one of Usher's first tracks), Eddie F. from the Untouchables ("In the Hood" extended remix of Donell Jones), or Timbaland (here with the hit "Pony" by Ginuwine in extended version which would allow the explosion that same year of a certain Aaliyah)? Polished and powerful compositions that have aged perfectly, passing the test of time with flying colors. Note the presence of the very first single from Destiny's Child featuring Beyoncé in the ninth position of the tracklisting ("No, No No, Part I"). The Legacy of Rn'B Slowjamz or "baby making music" in all its splendor and richness.Buy The legacy of R'n'B slow jamz at the best price
