The Albarika Story (Vol. 1)
Description
Founded in the 1960s by record store owner Seidou Adissa, Albarika Store is one of Africa's most important independent labels, based in Benin. In October, Acid Jazz is releasing the label's first compilation, compiled by David Hill and West African music expert Florent Mazzoleni. The compilation explores the post-colonial music scene, featuring Orchestre Poly-Rhythmo and Melome Clement, as well as Les Sympathics De Porto Novo and Les Volcans. Blending Funk, Soul, and Latin sounds with traditional music, the album includes rare and danceable tracks by Ipa Boogie and Ogassa. Recorded at EMI studios in Lagos, the influence of Afrobeat and Fela Kuti is notable. The double album includes detailed liner notes and artwork from the original LPs.Buy The Albarika Story (Vol. 1) at the best price
