Dusty Springfield hosted a TV special in 1965 to introduce Motown artists on their very first European tour, when they were still largely unknown to the public. Motown sent its biggest stars – from The Supremes to Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye – accompanied by the Earl Van Dyke Sextet, despite playing to almost empty venues.
