Imagine the scene: the year 2000 has passed and the new millennium is just beginning. A new scene explodes on the indie dancefloors of the country - some called it Indie Sleaze, Nu Rave, Future Disco or even Electroclash. "Strobes in Space" takes you back to a time when indie kids were rediscovering the joys of dancing, raving and partying in indie clubs. Neon, glow sticks, baggy t-shirts and hedonism on the dancefloors. When the IndieDance / Nu Rave scene took over the dancefloors and ignited the youth of the time, it seemed like incredible, super cool new bands were appearing from all corners of the world almost every day. An explosion of creativity and enthusiasm flooded the clubs and the airwaves. From the UK, you could hear bands like Bloc Party, Klaxons, Test Icicles, Playgroup and Simian Mobile Disco. In New York, there were LCD Soundsystem, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Fischerspooner. In France, there were Phoenix and Black Strobe. DJ/producer Tiga from Canada, Digitalism in Germany, Cut Copy in Australia, and the Belgians Soulwax and Goose, who even spread to South America with CSS in Brazil. It was a truly global scene.
