From obscure rarities to unknown tracks, producer Tee Cardaci explores eleven eclectic gems, recorded during the final days of Brazil's military dictatorship by a new generation of independent artists, outside of major record labels. "Sonhos Secretos," or "Secret Dreams," evokes the discreet aspirations of those who created these self-produced 45s, as well as the fact that many of these records long remained confidential. It is also, in a way, a reference to the dreamlike atmosphere that permeates this compilation. While all the tracks presented here fall under MPB (Brazilian Popular Music), they also incorporate, to varying degrees, elements of jazz, soul, folk, progressive rock, baroque rock, and shimmering pop. This unique compilation, presented by reissue specialist Org Music and online audio magazine Aquarium Drunkard, includes a fold-out booklet with artist interviews and liner notes written by Brazilian musicologist Allen Thayer. The audio has been restored and mastered by award-winning sound engineer Dave Gardner.
