Duke Ellington said that there are 2 types of music: the good and the bad. With the Shaolin Soul compilation series, there is no hesitation, we are at the heart of excellence, and this has been the case since the first volume released in 1998, which featured about twenty soul tracks sampled by RZA from the Wu-Tang Clan. Volume 2 offered an equally eclectic mix, with a selection ranging from the Jackson 5 to the Mad Lads, including Teddy Pendergrass and Labi Siffre. Released in 2014, volume 3 favored the southern sound in the style of "Papa" Willie Mitchell, artist and producer of the Hi Records label, home of Al Green and Ann Peebles. Then there was silence for four years. Time for Uncle O, the creator of the concept, to concoct a worthy sequel to this magnificent trilogy with a fourth episode rich in 22 tracks to be released on August 31, 2018.
