ROCK ROCK ROCK - French Rock'n roll 1956-1959 (vinyl)
Description
It's astonishing that such a period is so poorly documented. Admittedly, the genesis of rock and roll in France was not very flamboyant, and it would not be until the late arrival of Johnny, Les Chaussettes Noires, and Les Chats Sauvages in the early 60s that rock and roll would truly take off. Nevertheless, as early as 1956, numerous jazz orchestras made many attempts to establish the genre in France. Under their guidance, French Rock and Roll of the 50s would prove to be remarkable in many ways: unprecedented with its unusual orchestrations (accordion, clarinet, saxophone, xylophone), impressive due to the quality of its arrangements, or surprising because of its quirky performers (regional accent, crazy vocal timbre). The compilation ROCK ROCK ROCK unearths some pioneers of this French-style Rock and Roll and offers a unique testimony to one of the most ignored aspects of our popular music. So... Rock' On!!!
