The year 2021 marks the centenary of Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla. In the 1950s, when Piazzolla came to Paris to study composition, tango was not part of the classical music concert scene. Fortunately, the great teacher Nadia Boulanger encouraged her Argentine student to draw inspiration from this world that was so dear to him. Piazzolla thus found his path and established himself as the father of contemporary tango, balancing rhythmic vitality and orchestral texture.
