Le pop 9 : au début

Description

In 2002, the very first volume of the Le Pop series highlighted the revival of the French scene, which was then drawing inspiration from pop, minimalism, and indie sound. 16 years later, the French scene is more vigorous than ever, as demonstrated by Le Pop 9: Au Début in 16 songs. This new generation is clearly more influenced by production styles derived from electro, R&B, and hip-hop. Polo & Pan ("Canopée") are thus two DJs, the singer of Hollydays ("Les Insatisfaits") appreciates Rihanna while her partner prefers Amon Tobin and Aphex Twin, Angèle ("Je Veux Tes Yeux") is the sister of rapper Roméo Elvis, Ezéchiel Pailhès ("Éternel Été") is the co-founder of the electro duo Nôze. We also find Laurie Darmon ("Rupture"), winner of the George Moustaki Prize, who is accompanied on stage by a beatboxer, the indie pop group La Femme ("Où Va Le Monde"), awarded twice at the Victoires de la Musique, which uses up to four synths in concert, and Chaton ("Poésies") who uses autotune. Flavien Berger ("La Fête Noire") delivers a minimalist piece reminiscent of Suicide, Ali Daniel ("À Peine Défigurée") sets Paul Eluard to music against an afrobeat background. Among the other gems of the compilation, we will encounter Eddy Crampes ("Automne"), Achille ("Nina"), Pomme ("De Là-Haut"), Paradis ("Sur Une Chanson En Français"), Gérald Kurdian ("La Mer du Nord"), Adrien Soleiman ("Poisson Volant"), and Alexia Gredy ("Paradis"). This generation marks a new beginning for a multi-faceted and highly creative French scene!
