Description

The semi-biographical Irish-language film about the Irish hip-hop trio KNEECAP was one of the most acclaimed cinematic releases of the year. It screened in over 500 cinemas across the UK, the US (via Sony Classics), and Ireland in August 2024. The soundtrack includes tracks from KNEECAP, Bicep, Fontaines DC, and Orbital, as well as the film's score, composed by Michael "Mikey J" Asante MBE, and interspersed with snippets of dialogue from the film. The soundtrack and film have been hugely successful and received 14 BIFA nominations, including for Best Music Supervision, Best Original Music, and Best Music in Film: Best Music Supervision, Best Original Music, and Best British Independent Film. After winning the Next Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival this year and the Audience Award at the Galway Film Fleadh in July, the film was selected by the Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) to represent Ireland in the International Feature Film category at the Oscars.
