Description
In 1978, Bernard Treton recorded four 'tradi-modern' groups in Kinshasa. Part of these sessions would lead to the album "Zaïre: Musiques Urbaines à Kinshasa" (released in 1986 by Ocora), the first record to showcase the stunning music that, twenty years later, would captivate Western audiences under the generic name "Congotronics." This new bi-dimensional album includes approximately 80 minutes of previously unreleased original recordings made during these sessions in 1978, as well as new reconstructions created by Martin Meissonnier, the legendary producer who has worked with Fela Kuti, Khaled, and many others, and who has recently resumed his activities as a DJ.
