To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the Hamburg-based dub label Echo Beach presents a multidimensional portrait of its hometown, the Hanseatic city of Hamburg. The label has already traveled the world musically and released dub sets from the UK, South Africa, New Zealand, New York, Jamaica, and Germany. King Size Dub: Hamburg is the first compilation album dedicated exclusively to Hamburg's dub music. Even when the label emerged with a compilation of British dub, there were already sound masters like Silly Walks and Dub Me Ruff, projects by producer Matthias Arfmann, and bands like Dub Division and Di Iries - a vibrant dub scene in Hamburg that has thrived over the decades as wildly as the Echo Beach label outside of Germany, with overlaps and crossovers. The time for harvest has come: The first Dub label has teamed up with the best record store in the city, not just for Dub Heads, and has pressed a groove full of versions, specials, and exclusives from Hamburg's studios.
