Erinnerung - Homage to Humperdinck

Description

To mark the centenary of the death of German composer Engelbert Humperdinck, Deutsche Grammophon presents an anthology of his work on a double album bringing together his most remarkable compositions and his lesser-known chamber music masterpieces, including his splendid Piano Quintet and the String Quartet in C major. This anniversary edition also offers a selection of his finest lieder, his unique arrangement for piano and strings of Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde Prelude, as well as a world premiere recording of the piano piece Erinnerung. These rarities are accompanied by excerpts from his greatest successes, including Hänsel et Gretel in Georg Solti’s version and Königskinder with Jonas Kaufmann.
