From 1969 to 1989, German analogue electronic music was mainly produced in Düsseldorf. Not only the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, the city was the capital of analogue electronic music from the 70s to the mid-80s. This was the pre-MIDI and pre-computer era, before the use of samples became commonplace in electronic music, before the use of any digital device. It was the analogue revolution, futuristic homemade music, with synthesizers, largely influenced by progressive rock, whose structure is clearly recognizable. These artists explored a new way of composing music, and whether they were aware of it or not, they largely contributed to the development of music as a whole, not just electronic. Electri_city brings together the most significant compositions of bands such as NEU!, DAF, LA DUSSELDORF, RHEINGOLD, DER PLAN, DIE KRUPPS and other leading figures of this scene. Gronland has decided to re-release this compilation, which was no longer available in a deluxe, double CD and double LP version.
