Death Is Not The End collaborates with the Uzbek label Maqom Soul to present an album following up on their self-titled mixtape from last year. This album compiles exceptional tracks, carefully selected and licensed, from the studios of the former Soviet republics of Central Asia between 1978 and 1989. It features Uzbek, Tajik, Kurdish, and Uyghur artists blending traditional folk motifs, pop, rock, and psychedelic influences. These recordings do not form a linear, coherent story. They are more like a succession of discoveries made at different times and in different circumstances. Songs and instrumental pieces, once set within specific contexts - radio broadcasts, philharmonic programs, tours - now sit alongside one another, revealing unsuspected connections as well as clear breaks.
