"Confessin' The Blues" brings together the greatest Bluesmen of all time and offers a perfect introduction to the genre. The selection of songs was made by the Rolling Stones in collaboration with BMG and Universal Music. In the collective memory, the Rolling Stones have always been fans and devotees of the Blues, long before the start of their career, right up to their most recent album "Blues & Lonesome," which showcased their interpretations of classic Blues songs, most of which appear here in their original versions. Mick Jagger was one of the earliest fans of the Blues: "Muddy Waters' first real hit album, 'Muddy Waters At Newport,' was the first album I ever bought." As disciples of the genre, the Band and BMG have decided that 10% of the proceeds from the sale of this album will be donated to Willie Dixon's Blues Heaven Foundation. "Confessin' The Blues" features tracks by the greatest Blues pioneers such as Howlin' Wolf, John Lee Hooker, Elmore James, Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, Big Bill Broonzy, and Robert Johnson. All these artists had a definite impact on the Rolling Stones, whether on Keith's guitar riffs or Mick's vocals and lyrics. As Ron Wood says, "That's how Mick and Keith first got together on the train ride back from university. They admiringly discovered each other's record collections, and it was... 'Hey, you've got Muddy Waters, you must be a good guy... Come on! Let's form a band'." "Confessin' The Blues" will be available as a 2-CD set, Double Vinyl, and a 5x10'' vinyl bookpack. All these formats contain liner notes by music journalist Colin Larkin, and a bookpack containing removable art cards by the famous Blues illustrator Christoph Mueller. The album cover is a gift from Stones guitarist Ron Wood, who added his personal touch to the project by painting his depiction of the Bluesman. "Confessin' The Blues" is a true musical education from those who know the genre best: the greatest living band in the world, The Rolling Stones.
