BY COCO MARÍA, WITH: NICO MAUSKOVIC, LA PERLA, MERIDIAN BROTHERS Y GRUPO RENACIMIENTO, GRAHAM MUSHNIK, LA REDADA, ALEX FIGUEIRA, FRENTE CUMBIERO, LES PYTHONS DE LA FOURNAISE, ROMPERAYO, MALPHINO, MAX WEISSENFELDT. Bongo Joe presents 'Club Coco', the soundtrack to a scorching, danceable and terribly tropical summer. Conceived by Coco María, this compilation of Latin tracks with Afro-descendant sounds aims to be the physical embodiment of her show on Worldwide FM, which brings together a real community of 'music lovers' every week. Coco María is a true music detector. Listening out in all four directions, she picks up the good vibes and passes them on to her listeners. Behind the decks of her show, she transmits the energy of the Caribbean, Brazil and the rest of Latin America through records of samba, jazz, charanga or cumbia. Without worrying about borders, she draws from everywhere when the music moves her, whether in the Latin American diasporas or in the tropicalist revival that has been taking place in most European cities for a few years now. 'Club Coco' brings together on one album the most iconic artists from Coco María's shows. You can hear Nico Mauskovic, La Perla, Meridian Brothers y Grupo Renacimiento, Graham Mushnik, La Redada, Alex Figueira, Frente Cumbiero, Les Pythons de la Fournaise, Romperayo, Malphino, Max Weissenfeldt and even Coco María herself. The tracks on this compilation offer a glimpse of a dynamic scene where artists from all backgrounds and origins can exist within the cosmopolitanism of Europe's great cities. It is also a manifesto in which some express pride in their Latin American and Afro roots. The scene represented on 'Club Coco' belongs to a true community of ideas built around the love of the same music. On this album, it weaves the perfect soundtrack for the physical and spiritual back-and-forth between the continents, where everyone strives to push the boundaries of so-called tropical music ever further. "THE SOUNDTRACK TO A SCORCHING, DANCEABLE AND TERRIBLY TROPICAL SUMMER." --- RADIO NOVA ---." The Geneva label Bongo Joe unveils the compilation of psychedelic Afro-Latin music Club Coco. A set selected by Coco María, the Mexican DJ now based in Berlin who hosts the show of the same name (" Club Coco ") on Gilles Peterson's Worldwide FM. Illustrated by a beautiful sleeve with exotic and retro charm, the record brings together artists from Latin American culture, most of whom are now based in Europe. The soundtrack of a community with one foot on each continent, nourished by its Afro-Caribbean and Latin roots but curious about all kinds of blends. The record features some familiar artists from the international tropical scene: Niko Mauskovic (of Mauskovic Dance Band), Meridian Brothers, Frente Cumbiero, Max Weissenfeldt (Whitefield Brothers) and even Coco María herself. A psychedelic and sunny musical atmosphere, like " Octopus Dance ", a little instrumental curiosity by a certain Graham Mushnik. Behind this obscure name is Axel Oliveres, the only French artist on the compilation. The musician, based between London and Saint-Etienne and associated among others with groups such as Derya Yildirim and Malphino, signs with this " octopus dance " a very lovely psych-pop reverie, borrowing as much from Arthur Lyman's exotica as from the languor of Afro-Colombian rhythms. " --- RADIO NOVA ---.
