Description
The famous British television series Downton Abbey has been broadcast in France since 2011 on TMC. It depicts the aristocratic life of the Crawley family and their servants at Downton Abbey, an English estate from the 1910s. The inheritance issues related to the entail law, which requires a male heir, in a family with 3 daughters, the very strict codes governing the relationships between masters and servants, the love stories, World War I and the upheavals it brings, all represent the fascinating life of a vanished world that explains the audience success of this series as only the British can still produce.
