Mr. Yéyé is a child of the 2.0 generation, resourceful, curious, inventive, ultra-connected, and drawing the outlines of his future himself. There is obviously something unrestrained about this boy who started his journey in Brittany. Clever but not cunning. Driven but not aggressive. He also has a taste for taking risks. Mr. Yéyé is determined to maintain his freedom and especially his independence. He creates his YouTube channel (now with 40,000 subscribers) to post his tracks bit by bit, which he later compiles into seasons on a record. Mr. Yéyé thrives on audacity. He communicates excessively through social media. Gradually, the size of his fan club grows. Without any promotion, except for his Facebook page or his channel, he manages to sell 2,500 copies of his first album, Cabaret noir. Then one evening, after a concert, Mr. Yéyé keeps repeating the colorful phrase "On s'en bat les couilles." Just for fun, he turns it into a repetitive and obsessive refrain. Instant buzz online (nearly 4 million views today). Even Quotidien, the show hosted by Yann Barthes, gives great visibility to this completely offbeat track, which is light-years away from his artistic identity. In the meantime, Mr. Yéyé has had time to mature his hybrid rock forged from references he has quietly digested (Muse, Shaka Ponk, Linkin Park, In Flames, Rammstein...) and to bring in other vibrant forces into his project by forming a tight-knit band. Hybride, Mr. Yéyé's second album, was mixed by Frédéric Duquesne, guitarist of Mass Hysteria. He draws his inspiration from rock, electro, nu-metal, and reggae. Mr. Yéyé constructs a sound space where almost naive brutality and raw softness coexist. Under the guise of palpable urgency and a message centered around self-assertion, he organizes a unique music that never forgets, despite its power, to be melodically catchy.
