"Avalanche" is an underrated gem. Leslie West's fierce guitar sound prevails throughout the album, featuring a cover of "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" and a remake of "Satisfaction." The free-wheeling "You Better Believe It" serves as a proto stoner guitar workout, a furious six-string assault of distortion and fuzz, nearly six minutes of jamming. "Sister Justice" unfolds behind a cool riff and a 70s groove. With guitarist David Perry, Corky Laing on drums, and Felix Pappalardi on keyboards and bass guitar, this is certainly Mountain's most cohesive and hard rock album in their discography.
