Audio cassettes. Remember them? Those things with the twin reels and the piles of wide brown plastic recording tape that sometimes unspooled and hung out of the shell, requiring a pencil and a steady wrist to wind back in? Well, once upon a time, old-school audio systems contained cassette decks for the express purpose of recording shows, and those "cassettes" were an integral part of every tour. Motorhead was certainly no exception, recording show after show. They contain gold, pure auditory gold, and had lain for many years hundreds of feet underground in a small cave belonging to Lemmy, guarded by small hairy centurions in Roman armor with tiny spears and bad attitudes. Only the magic password could free them, and luckily, Lem had scribbled it down and left it for us in an old sketchbook (no, we won't tell you the password, even though it contained the words "neigh neigh neigh" in it). There were loads of grubby, dusty, greasy little buggers gathered, with places like Lyon, Liverpool, Hamburg and Chippenham (!!) scribbled in ballpoint pen on the little labels next to a date... and so we are delighted to announce that this unique collection of live gems will now be heard by the whole world, via carefully digitized transfers, in the series entitled The Lost Tapes.
