A band in the midst of a breakup, aborted sessions, abandoned songs, and a label drowning in debt: all of this contributed to the triumph that was Mother Earth's third album, « You Have Been Watching ». The early sessions — without a producer — for this new album were not fruitful, so much so that the band's frontman, Matt Deighton, jumped ship to go record his solo album with his new wife. That could have been the end of Mother Earth. Instead, after a much-needed break, the members found themselves back together at Acid Jazz studios and finished the album in a few weeks. Blending Stax soul, dub, and space rock, it was released at the end of summer '95 to great success.
