L'amante

Description

A contemporary look at sacred vocal music from the Middle Ages, reflecting, in a mirror, pieces from today, written for the singers of Mora Vocis. This creation is part of the original approach of Mora Vocis, an ensemble of solo female voices, exploring new encounters with the audience and playing between architecture, acoustics, medieval and contemporary music. The singers interpret their repertoire from memory and also dare to use original colors and vocal tessituras, close to oral traditions. "L'Amante" is a concert-performance that Mora Vocis brought to life in 2001: it features, for the ancient music part, medieval monodies extracted from 13th-century manuscripts, pieces by Hildegard von Bingen, excerpts from the Song of Songs. The contemporary composers who have written for the ensemble are Anne Deschamps, Klaus Huber, Daniel Meier, close to Henri Dutilleux or Maurice Ohana. A meeting beyond time in a vocal creation of astonishing homogeneity.
