I Love You Ireland

Description

With I Love You Ireland, Mohammad Syfkhan delivers his second album on Nyahh Records, the first made up entirely of original tracks and recorded with a full band, enriched by string arrangements from Syrian cellist and composer Naseem Alatrash. Between Middle Eastern and North African traditions, timeless melodies in the style of Fairuz or Oum Kalthoum, and frantic Kurdish dabke rhythms, the album unfolds a deeply alive and moving music. At once intimate and political, it expresses Mohammad’s gratitude to Ireland, which welcomed him and his family, as well as the heartbreaking grief for his son, killed by Daech, notably in the moving “Ah Yu Donia”. With “Al Huriya”, the musician explores Irish reel for the first time, a tribute to the artists and the people who have supported him since his arrival in Ireland in 2011.
