Mizery, a San Diego band bursting with energy, is ready to shake things up with their crossover hardcore sound. Revealed by the EP *Survive The Vibe* in 2014, followed by the album *Absolute Light* (Flatspot Records) in 2016, Mizery quickly won over audiences with their infectious rhythms and explosive live performances. Formed by childhood friends Jose Luna (vocals) and Taylor Parker (lead guitar), the project took shape when the duo met drummer Cayle Sain and quickly recruited Miguel 'Mikey' Salazar on bass, forming a quartet. After the album's release, Mizery toured with genre heavyweights like Power Trip, Terror, and Backtrack, and brought in Ahmad Ali on bass, with Mikey moving to rhythm guitar. Like the rest of the world, the band came to a halt during the pandemic but continued to compose and was ready for a strong comeback. In December 2023, the sudden death of drummer Cayle Sain, who had also played with Twitching Tongues, God's Hate, and GhosteMane, rocked the hardcore scene and, of course, forced Mizery into a hiatus. While grieving, the members of Mizery knew they had to continue. A recovered recording gave them new momentum. Jose and Taylor discovered that Cayle had recorded drum tracks for demos they had sent him, in a professional studio. Thanks to producer Taylor Young (The Pit), the band was able to retrieve these tracks and use them for what would become their self-titled EP. Scheduled for release on March 20, 2026, via Flatspot Records, Mizery's EP is an overtly political record focused on renewal and reflection. Throughout the six tracks, the lyrics are used as a weapon. As Jose explains: "It's a reflection of a world that some see, while others choose to ignore. Acts of violence, the fear of violence, and its repercussions." The tracks defy logic, blending rap-vocals with metallic riffs and inventive rhythms. One can feel the influence of Leeway (*Adult Crash*), Merauder (*5 Deadly Venoms*), and Only Living Witness (*Innocents*), not to mention the music of Rage Against The Machine and P.O.D. that shaped the band members' youth. While some see the release of this EP as a triumph, for Mizery, it is proof of their perseverance and an assurance of entering a new era.
