NUM DIA AZUL

Description

Minas' 'Num Dia Azul' is a sublime slice of bossa nova and jazzy MPB perfection. The album was originally released in 1983 and reflects the great music of Rio at the time; however, "Num Dia Azul" was not recorded in Rio, but in the United States. It was recorded in North Carolina just after Patricia and Orlando Haddad graduated from the North Carolina School of the Arts, and the record was only released for the Brazilian market under their own label, Blueazul Records. Like most private press labels, they could only afford to have it pressed in small quantities. To add to its later obscurity, hundreds of copies were also destroyed in a house fire. It is said that cream always rises to the top, and in the 2010s, word spread among collectors and DJs about this mythical under-the-radar recording. People from all over the world contacted Patricia and Orlando for more information, hoping to obtain a copy. Fortunately, the original tapes had remained with the artists and were in very good condition. For this 2023 reissue by Mr Bongo, we tried to keep it as close as possible to the original 1983 version, both in terms of packaging and audio presentation. The CD version comes with bonus tracks.
