The original 10-inch LP Ascenseur pour l'échafaud (Fontana 660.213) consisted of a suite of Miles Davis' music for Louis Malle's film of the same title (it was premiered in the United States as Frantic). This music was later released in the United States on the 12" LP Jazz Track (Columbia CL1268), adding to the suite three tracks from an outstanding session by Miles' sextet featuring John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley and Bill Evans. Our edition includes the complete contents of both issues, plus, as a bonus, Miles Davis' 1955 LP Blue Moods (Debut DEB-120).
