The eminent violinist Midori returns to recording with Beethoven’s famous Violin Concerto. The Japanese-American violinist Midori made her debut at the age of 11, when Zubin Mehta made her his surprise guest at the New York New Year’s concert. Famous for more than 35 years, she has distinguished herself as a leading soloist. Midori is also involved in many projects supporting music education for younger children through the association Midori and Friends, which helps children from underprivileged families. This recording of Beethoven’s Violin Concerto, completed by his two Romances for violin and orchestra, with the Festival Strings Lucerne and under the direction of Daniel Dodds, brings Beethoven Year to a beautiful close. “Beethoven guided my colleagues and me,” says Midori, “his work guided our focus and inspired us, our attentions were heightened, wrapped together in our musical efforts ...
