Athenar, the hooded riff machine from Cleveland, returns with a dangerously addictive project of blackened speed/thrash. Filthy, belligerent, and vile, Midnight makes music to incite brawls. Since 2003, the one-man band Athenar has been producing an impious racket, releasing countless demos, splits, and EPs. In 2022, he returns with Midnight's fifth album, Let There Be Witchery, which offers even more of what one can expect from his deranged mind, a catchy mix of black and speed metal and filthy punk rock, relentlessly compulsive. "I always want it to be loud and mean," he states. "This kind of thing never ages with me. How funny will it be to see me at 77 years old - if I make it that far - sitting on the porch blasting Hellhammer?"
