The reason Mick Jenkins decided to title this album "The Patience" corresponds to the patience it took him to get to this point. Having to wait to get free from a label that wasn’t supportive of him or didn’t see his vision was frustrating. He had to wait to put out his best music because he wanted to do it with a partner that believes in him and the way he wants to present his art. While he patiently waited, Mick worked on this incredible body of work that has truly become something special. Mick compares himself to a Michelin-star chef when cooking up the lyrics for this album; perfecting each line, incorporating complex rhyme schemes, and metaphors.
