A little bit of Ella (now and then)

Description

Recorded live in 1998, we must rejoice that this album is finally being released after a few years of an inexplicable purgatory... It is all the richer and more precious, as it has become a double tribute, to Ella of course, but also to the great Tommy Flanagan, who passed away in 2001, and who was the most loyal and last regular collaborator of the irresistible "First Lady". Michele Hendricks, born to a father who was a virtuoso of "scat" and "vocalise" style who put her on stage as a child, is among the few artists qualified to sign this tribute. First of all, because she knows deeply all the secrets of jazz singing, having practiced it extensively alongside some leading musicians, from Stan Getz and Art Blakey to Herbie Hancock and various groups led by Jon Hendricks, her father. Secondly, because in some respects she is one of the few heirs of Ella Fitzgerald, in the diversity of her talents.
