This program strongly rises against the idea of a so-called rivalry between the Conservatory and Schola Cantorum, a legend as vain as it is regrettable, moreover - as always - maintained more by the epigones than by the pioneers themselves... It also illustrates what the latter loved to draw from the knowledge of writing techniques inherited from both plainchant and a golden age of polyphony that some liked to say was "over." Three generations of musicians are therefore at work in this disc, represented by composers who were so many "bearers of the torch."
