Yann Tiersen combines different musical forms in his music: traditional French music such as folk and chanson, as well as rock and avant-garde pop. It is also striking that most of his works are recorded entirely by himself, and he plays all the instruments. His music can probably be described as "neoclassical with a very strong connection to minimalism, where the repetitive aspect and the reduction of the material used are the foundations. Here, for the first time worldwide, are the suites from Amélie Poulain, EUSA, and Kerber in their version for solo piano. This CD presents a musical overview of his life, from his time in Paris—"I hate Paris," he said—to his retirement on the island of Ouessant, the westernmost point of mainland France, many years ago now.
