The Swedish thrashers Mezzrow are back with their second studio album 'Summon Thy Demons'. Mezzrow is back after 30 years! They made a name for themselves on the thrash metal scene in the late 80s with their critically acclaimed demos "Frozen Soul" and "Cross of Tormention". In 1990, they released their first classic, 'Then Came the Killing', via Active Records, a subsidiary of Music for Nations. The album is still considered one of the best, if not the best, thrash metal album from Sweden and Scandinavia. This legendary album was remastered with all the demos and released in May 2022 via Hammerheart Records. In 2021, Mezzrow was reborn like a phoenix from its ashes when bassist Conny Welén (ex-Hexenhaus) and singer Uffe Pettersson (ex-Rosicrucian) decided to make a new mark in today's thrash metal world. With new guitarists Magnus Söderman (Nightrage) and Ronnie Björnström (ex-Defiatory, ex-Aeon), new killer songs have been written that represent pure first-class Thrash Metal. "Obviously, we have a fresher, more mature, and darker new sound, but it’s still the old-school Bay Area thrash metal that forms the foundation. We refuse to lower the guitars, and you can definitely hear what Uffe is singing! Some of the songs are even a bit melodic, but in a thrash way. So rest assured, we’re not doing ballads," comments Conny Welén. The lineup has been completed by the excellent drummer Jon Skäre (Defiatory, Hulkoff) and the band is fine-tuning the recordings of their reunion album which will be released in spring 2023 on Fireflash Records, a new sub-label of Atomic Fire Records. The album was produced by Conny Welén, Ronnie Björnström, and Magnus Söderman. The excellent mixing and mastering was done by sound guru Ronnie Björnström (Sorcerer, Meshuggah, 220 Volt, and others). The cover obviously needs to match the music, which is why it was designed by the incredible Pär Olofsson who recently created the illustration for Exodus' latest release "Persona Non Grata" among many other cool covers. Everything has come together and the time has come for Mezzrow to make another exclamation point on the metal map. "2023 will see several singles and videos and finally the long-awaited follow-up to our first album 'Then Came The Killing' from 1990. We also hope to finally play live again in 2023. In other words, the future is so bright that we need to wear sunglasses."
