72 Seasons is the 12th studio album by Metallica, the first since 'Hardwired... To Self-Destruct' in 2016. Produced by Greg Fidelman, James Hetfield, and Lars Ulrich, this 77-minute album includes 12 tracks, including the single 'Lux Aeterna'. James Hetfield explains the idea behind the album's name: "72 seasons. The first 18 years of our lives that shape our true or false 'self'. The concept that our parents told us 'who we are'. A way of being categorized into a personality type. I think what's interesting is the ongoing study of these fundamental beliefs and how they affect our perception of the world today. A large part of our adult experience is a reconstruction or a reaction to these childhood experiences. Being prisoners of that childhood or freed from these chains we carry."
