Meshuggah has been called "one of the ten most important hard and heavy bands" by Rolling Stone and has earned the respect and admiration of fans and musicians. It is impossible to talk about experimental or avant-garde metal without mentioning MESHUGGAH: a blend of ultra-complex rhythmic patterns with massive riffs and aggressive growls, combining Death Metal, Mathcore, Thrash, and Progressive Metal to create their unique style. 2023 marks the 15th anniversary of "ObZen". A masterpiece of diversity and surprises overall, the album contains the band's absolute massive hit, "Bleed", the song that tore through the industry like a shockwave and left fans and fellow musicians completely speechless. One could say that 'ObZen' is somewhat a best-of album of the band's early works combined with fresh new songs from that time - but that's only half the story. Compared to some of the murky lava worlds of subconscious horror from previous releases, 'ObZen' kicks ass. Some parts are still slow-motion groove hells, others, like the opener "Combustion", are a high-speed carnage like the band has never done before. Pure, hard technical chaos! The band has only released classic albums since their debut in 1991, but it would not be wrong to say that "ObZen" was their most mature achievement up to the date of its original release in 2008.
