The crew brought back memories from Ireland and Brittany to add a touch of Celtic flavor. The musicians commissioned Marion Cousineau, Florent Vintrignier, and Benoit Viquesnel to deliver their versions of the world, the relationship between humans and nature, consumer society, the desire to possess, and the society of men and women. They challenged themselves to a five-handed writing exercise for the final song that gives the album its name. Ten songs written in beautiful French unfold slices of life and share reflections. The themes can be tender, funny, sometimes terrible and fierce. The lyrics are well-researched, substantial, even juicy, and just as delicate. A skillful balance of instrumental and poetic nuances. Mes Souliers Sont Rouges welcome voices on two tracks that feel like obvious choices. For the first time, a woman's voice, Amélie les Crayons. Tender and bright on "Maraîcher mon ami," she offers a counterpoint to the straightforward laughter of the four boys on "À Ch’val" by La Rue Kétanou.
