By the end of the 1980s, thrash metal had established itself in Germany and was even playing a leading role worldwide. Even back then, some bands were no longer content with just playing fast and aggressively. Thrash metal became more sophisticated and technical in many cases. In the United States, Watchtower pushed this trend to the extreme, followed by several bands in Germany on the Aaarrg Records label (Mekong Delta, Target). While other bands initially played it straight before flirting with progressive elements over the course of their careers (Holy Moses, Deathrow, Destruction), the Hamburg-based band MEGACE developed a sophisticated blend of thrash and prog from the band's founding in 1988. With singer Melanie Bock, they also had a special asset up their sleeve, as she can do both: scream guttural thrash and sing melodically. This immediately set MEGACE apart from other bands and gave them a chance, which they seized. After a few demos, the first album "Human Errors" was released, which was consistently praised by the press and still has fans worldwide today (reissue on CD and LP, Golden Core 2025). The second album "Inner War" was released belatedly in 1999 on the small label Angular (Sylvan, Vanishing Point, Lana Lane). But just as popular as the two albums are the first three demos, which also circulated on cassette at the time: The Sign Of The Ape, This Is The Newset Pseudo Identity. After the second album, the lesser-known cassette "After Death" was released, which can be heard here for the first time. All the material was restored and remastered after months of work and is in no way inferior to the sound of the two albums. The CD version also contains other previously unreleased recordings. Numerous photos and illustrations, as well as liner notes, complete this perfect product. Many metal fans have been waiting for this album for years...
