After his last project “Storyteller” and his track “KYLL” featuring Booba and certified gold single, Médine makes his return 2 years later with a new album scheduled for November 6: “Grand Médine”.
Highly anticipated in French rap, Médine intends to once again put the suburbs of France on the map alongside artists such as Big Flo and Oli, Hatik.
A medina refers to the old part of a city. Due to their heritage, know-how, and the great diversity of human activities they house, a number of medinas are listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites. Médine is both a popular neighborhood in Dakar (Grand Médine), an important city in Saudi Arabia, and a small village in Normandy. This triple geographical base well represents MÉDINE's career and influences. It is on these historical references of urbanization that the identity of the album “Grand Médine” is built.
This project confirms the artistic turning point of the rapper from Le Havre with increasingly open and melodic tracks, and collaborations with popular artists like Big Flo and Oli or Hatik. The theme of family also holds an important place in this new opus, which reflects the daily life of this artist who is a father of three children.
Two years after the release of the album “Storyteller” and three years after that of “Prose Elite”, MÉDINE offers in this new album the track “Grand Paris 2” which presents itself as the sequel to “Grand Paris” (Prose Elite) where he was accompanied by rappers like Lartiste, Ninho, or Sofiane. A true modern tale narrating the broken destinies of innocent children, the series of tracks “Enfant du destin” also makes its return in this project with a new episode titled “Sara”. Drawing inspiration from all continents and all eras, MÉDINE has chosen this time to shed light on the current situation of the Uyghurs: a Muslim people in China persecuted and held in internment camps by the Chinese authorities.
