In 2017, with the release of her first album Polaar, Maud Geffray – half of the duo Scratch Massive – took a step aside into solo work, imposing her fascinating and floating universe, melancholic and elegiac. Started, composed, and completed over the last two years, and produced in tandem with the young prodigy producer Krampf, Ad Astra, Maud's new album, follows in the continuity of Polaar, of which it is the logical sequel.
This new album is more pop, bright, sunny, and open to the world. From "Break," the first single from the album, with its whip-like rhythm, its unabashed eurodance chorus, and its playfully distorted vocals, to ‘I Fall At Five', a little electro-pop tearjerker in duet with Rebeka Warrior – from "Don't Need," a small radiant dance hit reminiscent of Pet Shop Boys, to ‘Royal Bellies', future r'n'b with Koudlam – Maud Geffray emerges from her cocoon and sets a new milestone in an unusual and enchanting musical universe. With its danceable rhythms, its synth layers erected as cathedrals, its highlighted pitched voices, and its nods to 90's dance, Ad Astra establishes itself as an uninhibited electro album.
