"I write so that it’s easier to talk." French author, composer, singer, and producer Mathis Riviere embodies and dresses the melancholy of a cashmere pop. With "Les jours de pluie," his first EP, he delivers five songs that tame solitude, elusive desire, and Paris. A bittersweet pop where melancholy becomes a reason to dance. With a whispered melody over muted productions, he plays the confidant and crafts a love letter to his own sadness, but there is also this fervor, this burst of light, and the desire to see others dance. Driven by the singles "Comment rentrer chez soi ?" and "Reprends-moi," the EP culminates with "L'homme le plus triste du square," a portrait of a man waiting for nightfall, umbrella in hand, on a bench at the back of the park. Urban, sensitive, and mysterious, he shapes a bittersweet marriage between Gainsbourgian poetry and modern textures.
