After the success of his last album, Crazy Horse (20 million views on Facebook, international tours...), Mathias Duplessy and his companions return with "Brothers Of Strings," an album that is even bolder and more creative, composed of imaginary journeys. Here, a haunting bolero with Asian spices (Texas Boléro), there, a slow waltz with Japanese scents (A Japanese in Paris), a Chinese gypsy jazz (Chinese Dumplings), or a tribute to Bruce Lee (Kung-Fu)... This opus is completely euphoric, a true fireworks display of colors and energy. Mathias's guitar sails gracefully and effortlessly through all registers, enveloping and supporting the three hurdy-gurdies that intertwine and always stand out harmoniously. Epi's Mongolian hurdy-gurdy often has the tones of a saturated Gibson, rock or blues, while Guo Gan's sensual Erhu delights in "Grapelian" or oriental improvisations. Aliocha's Nyckelharpa, always elegant in both ornamentation and dynamics, impresses us in the cover of "Brothers In Arms" by Dire Straits, one of the jewels of the album. The other cover on the album is a wild version of Morricone's "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly." We are plunged into a ride between the Western and Mongolia, where Epi's astonishing voice (which spans nearly 4 octaves) literally takes us to new heights. Listening to the album "Brothers of Strings," we feel like we are in a different movie with each track, and a strong desire quickly arises to see them on stage...
