Poo-Sun

Description

A major work of Japanese jazz, Poo-Sun by pianist Masabumi Kikuchi is one of the essential albums of the Japanese jazz-fusion scene. An emblematic figure of avant-garde jazz, Kikuchi develops an intense musical universe here, blending modal jazz, bold improvisations, and hypnotic grooves. Driven by an exceptional lineup featuring two keyboards and two drum kits, the album delivers impressive rhythmic energy. The track “Dancing Mist,” a true monument of Japanese Rare Groove, perfectly illustrates this innovative approach, while “Yellow Carcass in the Blue” explores more contemplative atmospheres. An essential reissue for fans of Japanese jazz, fusion, and Wajazz.
