Syrr

Description

Simsara Records announces Syrr, the new album by Egyptian artist Maryam Saleh. Both mythical and introspective, Syrr transforms memory, loss, and experience into a shifting sound universe, made of voices and embodied emotions. Written and composed by Saleh, the album follows a three-part journey — Origin & Image, Vessel, then Intuition & Echo — where identity is deconstructed, questioned, then reassembled and expanded. Blending raw expression and dramatic subtlety, she offers an immersive sound autobiography. Co-produced with Maurice Louca and Kamilya Jubran (who also plays keyboards, oud, and provides backing vocals), the album draws inspiration from traditional Arabic musical forms (mawwal, lullaby, madih, muwashshah, taqtuqa…). The project is the result of three years of creation, with Kamilya Jubran as a mentor. Mixed by Mokhtar El Sayeh and mastered by Heba Kadry, Syrr is produced by Simsara Music with the support of AFAC.
