Le Verbier Festival, Martha Argerich and Deutsche Grammophon create the event. Martin Engstroem founded the Verbier Festival in 1991, inaugurated by Zubin Mehta and David Garrett. His friendship with Martha Argerich dates back to 1969, a time when he was still a young music student. Since 1997, the Festival has welcomed the pianist, where she performs solo, in chamber music formations, or with orchestra. Many are the exceptional concerts she has given with artists such as Evgeny Kissin, Mikhail Pletnev, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Vadim Repin, Gil Shaham, Nigel Kennedy, Yuri Bashmet, Thomas Quasthoff, and James Levine. On July 27, 2007, Martha Argerich received "carte blanche" for her program and guests. The result is a spectacular event, featuring: Yuri Bashmet, Renaud Capuçon, Lang Lang, Mischa Maisky, Gabriela Montero, and Julian Rachlin, to be discovered on this double album. This recording is the first in a series showcasing the immense talents that have performed and will continue to perform in Verbier.
