MARLON WILLIAMS grew up in New Zealand and sang in the Christchurch Cathedral choir before his father, a Maori punk singer, introduced him to country music. His first band, The Unfaithful Ways, helped him gain recognition in his country and tour with Justin Townes Earle when he was only 17. The singer began his solo career in 2012 and moved to Melbourne in 2013 to start his project under the name MARLON WILLIAMS. He quickly became popular within the local scene and very soon won over a national audience. He will present his self-titled debut album next February 19. With his exceptionally versatile and evocative voice, WILLIAMS truly embodies his songs on a confident and varied debut, like “Dark Child,” a ballad that is both dark and bright, or “Hello Miss Lonesome,” on which the young man’s voice soars over a bluegrass guitar line. The young MARLON WILLIAMS is, in fact, already a young giant of alternative country.
