Markus & Shahzad Santoo Khan is a collaboration between three musicians from Angers and a Pakistani singer, blending the oud, electronic music, and Qawali singing. Onboard a French Touch wagon of the Orient Express, Markus and Shahzad Santoo Khan offer a musical update of the oud and electronic music, providing a flavorful, unexpected, and dreamlike mix. Their music takes us on a journey to discover a synthetic and decidedly modern Orient. Both sensual and cyber-poetic, the high-energy groove of the drums and the psychedelic keyboards propel Markus's oud into the enchanting harmonic landscape of Shahzad Santoo Khan. The confrontation of ecstatic Sufi qawali and psychedelic electro is not new, but the three musicians from Angers and the Pakistani singer add an oud, Arabic maqams, and just the right amount of whimsy to bring freshness, straddling between dub and vibrant pop.
