The music of Georges Ivanovic Gurdjieff invites us to attune ourselves to an immense space, calling us to find our place – both in our daily lives and in our more subtle and broader role within the universe. Aligning with this harmony means recognizing our belonging to the rhythms of everyday life and, simultaneously, to a universal breath. It is an invitation to embrace the duality of our existence, not to deny it; to perceive it clearly in order to reach a place of reconciliation, where our inner opposites find order and unity. The music collected by Gurdjieff during his travels and reworked by him resonates like fragments of a dispersed knowledge. This wisdom is not acquired through theory, but experienced through rhythm, interval, and vibration. It is an intentional process, stripped of decorative elements to reach the essential. The "Master of Dance" from the Caucasus did not create music simply to please the ear, but to disrupt the center of gravity of our being. Alongside Thomas de Hartmann, the pianist who transcribed and refined his indications, he crystallized on the staff the vibrations of ancestral wisdom. The Ensemble de la Paix, under the direction of Flavio Spotti, explores this territory with respect and awareness – a form of inner discipline in itself – restoring to Gurdjieff's music its original dimension. With the breath of the clarinets, the lament of the strings, and the ancestral pulse of the percussion, we are transported to Gyumri, to Kars, and across the Asian steppes. Here, time is not a straight line, but a circle traced in the dust by the footsteps of Truth Seekers. Melodies born in inaccessible monasteries and bustling caravanserais become the pillars of a sound geometry designed to realign the intellect, heart, and body – to awaken us from our stupor.
